Children’s participation and recommendations were given priority in a workshop in St. Petersburg 26-27 September 2017. The 36 participants from 7 countries in the Baltic Sea region discussed for 2 days good practices in the identification and referral of children at risk of exploitation and trafficking. The workshop was organized by the Council of the Baltic Sea States Secretariat (CBSS) and the Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM) with the support of the NGO Stellit and Transit shelter home for children.

Included in the workshop were the results from a session organized separately with children giving their suggestions to the topic. The children’s participation – and the voices of children – engaged many. The CBSS and NCM hope to organize similar children’s participation sessions to guide our work in many more countries in the region.

Upcoming and similar workshops will be organized 12-13 December in Vilnius and 31 May – 1 June in Oslo.
